Sister M. Madeleva Williams, CSJ

Sister Madeleva Williams, CSJ is a long-time educator who studied with Corita Kent at Immaculate Heart College in Los Angeles. She is presently an artist-in-residence at St. Joseph Center in Orange. She uses a mixture of print and color to translate spiritual experience into art. Sister Madeleva integrates art and spirituality while encouraging confidence that each person is a special kind of artist. Her work is well-known to St. Joseph congregations, is displayed throughout the St. Joseph Health System and other ministries, and can be purchased at the Gift Shop of the Center for Spiritual Development http://www.thecsd.com.

Sister Ellen O'Leary, CSJ

"Water color washes away the dust of the everyday life," says Sister Ellen O'Leary, CSJ. Sister Ellen has been painting for over 25 years and studied under Dr. H. Wright at California State University, Long Beach in addition to several other teachers with different emphases. Her work is on display at the Center for Spiritual Development and has been used by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange in various print projects. "I never tire seeing the mixture of water and pigments moving together to create beauty," she expresses. "A single stroke can say so much. Water color is soul work. There is always the letting go, and then the surprise, the AWE."

Sister Sarah Jordan, CSJ

Sister Sarah Jordan, CSJ is an educator, spiritual director and artist with a degree in Art from Loyola Marymount University. She has continued art studies through University of California, Irvine, as well as individual master potters. She is presently an artist-in-residence at St. Joseph Center in Orange. Sister Sarah works in several mediums and directs CSJ Ceramics, combining "the Potter's House" with her studies and experiences in teaching, spiritual direction, art, formation, and pastoral studies. Whether leading participants through a process, or sharing her finished works, Sister Sarah's art is woven into shared, contemplative experience.
